Engine Failure..

Mr Pilot
- "This is when the plane wants to kill you..! If you ever find yourself flying and one of your engines goes, then the plane is now trying to kill you. You had better have your wits about you otherwise the plane is going to win. And you will be in the ground."

A stern look came across his face.

"I am not joking, this is no laughing matter; the plane will yaw uncontrollably, then roll and before you know it, the nose will be dropping straight into your graves..!"

Today we were being taught the effects of an engine failure on a multi engine aircraft. As you can gather this is quite a serious matter.

"This is not some shit you learn to pass exams, you learn this to keep yourself alive; reeeaall pilot shit!" (He prolonged the word 'real' for emphasis)

We were then given various senarios in which things were happening and what we would do to prevent and mitigate them; we had to think on our own with no conferring with our fellow cadets. We all had a good think and came up with our best guesses..

"When you are up there in the plane and the only time on the clock is the maker's name, you are not going to be able to discuss this with your friends."

After a short pause for us to have our guesses.

"You lot disappoint me..!"

We're not that bad, really..!
